Melbourne Airport Specialised Runway Repairs

Eifers was contracted to fix and prolong the life of 141 concrete runway slabs (7.6m x 7.6m) damaged by spalling, cracking and shaling that had begun to cause foreign object damage (FOD) to aircraft and other runway vehicles.

Using Polymer technology, DPR Buckets, Poly Prime and other specialised materials, along with crack chaser machine, EJC 25 bulk dispensing unit, bobcat and sweeper truck, Eifers successfully rehabilitated the runway by grinding and breaking out existing slabs and repairing or replacing in time for reopening at 5 a.m. every morning.
