Kiosk & LV Slab

Client: Winslow Infrastructure

Project: Kiosk & LV Slab
Main Contractor: Eifers Civil
Timeline: March 2025

PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Eifers were engaged by Winslow Infrastructure to undertake the construction of a new Electrical Kiosk and LV Switchboard slab as part of APAM’s Operations Road Upgrade works. This project required the installation of two critical slabs: one for the Kiosk Substation (No. 165) and another for the LV Switchboard Slab, both of which are designed to house essential electrical equipment.

The construction process was carried out in several meticulously planned phases. Initially, the site was prepared to ensure a stable and level base. This involved detailed earthworks and the installation of formwork to define the shape and dimensions of the slabs.

Following this, a stabilised sand backfill was used to enhance the structural integrity and support the foundations. Once the groundwork was complete, the team proceeded with the pouring of concrete, ensuring the slabs were formed to exact project specifications.

The concrete slabs were reinforced to provide maximum stability, durability and load-bearing capacity to support the heavy electrical equipment.

In addition to the core construction work, Eifers' scope also included the installation of several key features for added safety and functionality. Removable bollards were strategically placed to safeguard the area, while a precast concrete sleeper retaining wall was erected to support the surrounding earth and prevent erosion. Furthermore, 20mm screening material was carefully placed within the reserve to aid drainage and protect the foundations.

Throughout the project, Eifers' team demonstrated a high level of precision and expertise, ensuring that each phase of construction met APAM’s stringent quality and safety standards.
