PROJECT OVERVIEW:

Kmart required urgent concrete pavement repairs at their facility to address deteriorating sections and maintain a safe operational environment. Given the site's near 24/7 operational schedule, the project had to be completed within a tight two-day window to decrease disruption.

Scope of Works

Saw cut and demolish 250mm thick concrete pavement in 11 designated patch areas.
Excavate and compact the base with crushed rock to ensure long-term stability.
Drill and install two layers of dowel bars to reinforce structural integrity before pouring concrete. Supply and pour rapid-set concrete using volumetric mixers for efficiency and durability.

Challenges and Solutions

Working in a continuously operational environment presented several challenges:

Minimising Pavement Damage: A double saw-cut technique was employed to prevent damage to adjacent pavement, ensuring a clean and precise finish.
Operational Continuity: Close collaboration with the client allowed for seamless coordination, preventing disruptions to Kmart’s operations.
